SUCCESS STORY: Pyrénées drives retail transformation in Andorra
Pyrénées Andorra embraces SelfQuiosk self-checkout solutions to optimize the shopping experience in its supermarkets
“This type of solution was a priority for the group, as it helps streamline the shopping process, reduces long queues, and enhances customer satisfaction.” — Manel Mourelo Bonnin (IT Manager at Grupo Pyrénées)
Client information
The Pyrénées Andorra group is one of the leading commercial players in Andorra. With over 70 years of experience, it has established itself as a leader in the country’s retail sector. Its turnover, reaching €225 million, represents approximately 9% of the national GDP, reflecting its strategic importance to the Andorran economy.
The company operates in both retail and wholesale sectors, particularly in food distribution, and is also a key exclusive importer of international brands in fashion, luxury goods, perfumery, electronics, home appliances, automotive products, and accessories.
Challenge
In a market increasingly focused on immediacy and enhanced customer experience, the group identified the need to optimize the purchasing process in its supermarkets.
Until then, stores relied solely on traditional checkout lanes, resulting in long queues and extended waiting times during peak hours. This situation directly impacted customer satisfaction and limited operational efficiency, as there were no alternative solutions to speed up the payment process.
Solution
To address this challenge, the group implemented self-checkout solutions from SelfQuiosk. Specifically, the SelfQuiosk CQ range was introduced in key locations such as Grans Magatzems Pyrénées and Carrefour Andorra 2000 supermarkets.
The rollout, launched in October, marked a strategic step toward point-of-sale digitalization, aligning with global retail trends where self-checkout has become a standard for improving efficiency and enhancing the customer experience.
New solutions implemented
The introduction of the SelfQuiosk CQ range has enabled the creation of agile self-checkout areas that optimize queue management during peak times. These solutions not only reduce waiting times but also ease the workload on traditional checkout lanes, allowing for better resource allocation.
In addition, the system is complemented by exit control gates, which enhance overall security without compromising the smooth flow of the shopping experience. This comprehensive approach helps deliver a faster, more convenient, and secure experience for customers.
Thanks to the excellent reception from customers and the results obtained, Grup Pyrénées plans to continue progressively deploying our solutions in the rest of its establishments.
